With 120 minutes and 65 questions, you have approximately 1 minute and 50 seconds per question. Here's how to use that time wisely:

The numeracy test includes an on-screen calculator for calculator-available items. Practise entering calculations accurately, and check the current ACER candidate information and screen orientation for the available functions.

• accurate entry of decimals and brackets where required
• estimating first, then checking that the result is sensible

Keep fraction, decimal and percentage conversions fluent. A calculator checks arithmetic; it does not replace choosing the correct method.

About two-thirds of the literacy test is reading comprehension. The most effective strategy:

1. Skim the questions first — know what you're looking for before reading
2. Read the passage — with the questions in mind
3. Eliminate wrong answers — narrow down to 2 options
4. Find evidence in the text — the correct answer is always supported by the passage
